Collaborating with Dirty Pool

Collaborating with Dirty Pool

by Norman Gavin

PLYFLD started as a little side project, born from our love of pinball and our desire to create art and design inspired by the hobby we’re so passionate about.

The response from the pinball community has been unbelievable. The support, encouragement and kind words we’ve received about the work we’re creating have genuinely meant the world to us — and have been a huge driving force behind our desire to keep creating and to keep collaborating.

In the spirit of collaboration, we were approached by Jeff Dodd, AKA Dirty Pool Pinball, who asked if we’d be interested in collaborating with him on the relaunch of his brand identity.

We’d always admired Jeff’s work and the creativity he brings to his channels, so when his email landed in our inbox, the answer was an obvious yes.

Working within the world of cult aesthetics was a no-brainer. The challenge was to build on what Jeff had already created, while moving the identity forward into a more graphic and contemporary direction. We developed a new visual language through graphic iconography, typography and motion design, creating an identity that felt unmistakably Dirty Pool while giving the brand a stronger and more cohesive visual presence.

This is just the beginning though, we've got lots more things in the works with Jeff, stay tuned for that. In the meantime, we'll leave you with one of Jeff's own videos, doing his thing:
